Kyambura Gorge Lodge

About Kyambura Gorge Lodge

Located on the edge of Kyambura Gorge near Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kyambura Gorge Lodge gives you easy access to one of Uganda’s most distinctive wildlife areas. Between chimp trekking in the gorge, game drives on the plains, and views stretching toward the Rwenzori Mountains, it’s a stay that brings together comfort, character, and a strong sense of place. The former coffee estate setting also gives it a different feel from a more typical safari lodge.

When to visit

June to September is the strongest overall window for drier conditions, while mid-December to February is another excellent period for wildlife and chimp trekking.

Most popular: June - September

Spring · Mar, Apr, May

March to May is wetter and more dramatic, with April and May bringing the heaviest rainfall and the gorge landscape at its lushest. The setting feels intensely atmospheric and wonderfully green, but it is also a quieter, muddier, and more weather-dependent time to visit.

Summer · Jun, Jul, Aug

June to August is the standout season, with July especially dry and generally easier conditions for exploring the Queen Elizabeth area. The lodge feels bright, open, and deeply scenic at this time, making it one of the best periods for classic safari days and chimp-focused stays.

Autumn · Sep, Oct, Nov

September to November feels greener, moodier, and more dramatic, with heavier rain returning and the landscape looking lush and alive. It is a beautiful time for travellers who want softer crowds and richer scenery, though wetter conditions can make outdoor activities feel more seasonal.

Winter · Dec, Jan, Feb

December to February is one of the most rewarding times to stay at Kyambura Gorge Lodge, with warm days, brighter skies, and some of the driest conditions of the year. This is a polished safari season for combining chimp trekking, game drives, and long afternoons by the pool with those huge escarpment views.
