Kyambura Gorge gives you a different side of Uganda’s safari experience, with a steep forested ravine cutting through the open plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Best known for chimp trekking, it also stands out for its dramatic scenery and the contrast between the gorge itself and the surrounding savannah. If you want something that feels a little more varied than a standard game drive, this is an easy place to add real depth to your time in the park.
When to visit
June to August is the clearest overall window, while December to February is another strong period for drier trails and easier gorge walks.

Getting There
From Kasese town, drive toward Queen Elizabeth National Park and continue in the direction of the Kyambura sector on the park’s eastern side, not far from the Kazinga Channel area. If you are coming from Kampala, the usual route is by road to the park, then onward to the gorge for the final stretch.
