Apoka Safari Lodge

About Apoka Safari Lodge

You can settle into the wild beauty of Kidepo Valley National Park at Apoka Safari Lodge, where wide-open plains, rocky outcrops, and close wildlife sightings make every day feel unforgettable. Set in one of Uganda’s most remote and rewarding safari destinations, this lodge gives you front-row access to elephants, buffalo, and lions, along with the kind of peace and privacy that is hard to find in busier parks.

When to visit

December to March is the standout window for hot, dry safari conditions, while September to November offers greener scenery with fewer rain disruptions.

Most popular: December - March

Spring · Mar, Apr, May

March to May begins with warmer, drier safari weather in March before the landscape turns greener and wetter through April and May. This is a quieter, moodier period with softer light, fewer travellers, and increasing chances of afternoon rain as the wet season builds.

Summer · Jun, Jul, Aug

June to August is the coolest part of the year and also the wettest stretch in this part of Uganda, especially around July. The park feels lush and fresh, wildlife viewing still rewards, but showers and softer ground can make the experience feel more remote and more seasonal.

Autumn · Sep, Oct, Nov

September to November is a strong shoulder season, with rainfall easing after the heavier mid-year months and the plains still carrying rich green colour. It feels less intense than the peak dry window, with good scenery, fewer crowds, and improving wildlife visibility as conditions dry out.

Winter · Dec, Jan, Feb

December to February is the hottest and driest period, bringing crisp safari days, clearer tracks, and stronger wildlife concentration around remaining water sources. This is the most polished time to experience Apoka’s huge views, outdoor tubs, and classic golden Kidepo atmosphere.
