The sleepy town of Vanimo is one of the top surfing spots in Papua New Guinea, offering world-class surf breaks without the crowds. This super-chilled, and relatively unknown, stretch along the country's north coast is also home to plenty of waterfalls, caves and volcanoes that are fantastic for exploring. Papua New Guinea has a Surf Management Plan in place which limits the number of tourists at the breaks at one time, meaning you'll never have to wait in line for the next wave. The Surf Management Plan also helps to fund local community projects.
