Ngonye Falls
About Ngonye Falls
Ngonye Falls gives you a very different waterfall experience from the one most people picture in Zambia. Found near Sioma on the Zambezi River, it feels quieter, less built up, and far more off the usual tourist track, which is part of what makes it worth the trip. The falls may not be as famous as Victoria Falls, but the sheer volume of water, wide rock formations, and more remote setting give the whole place a strong sense of scale and character.
When to visit
March to June delivers Ngonye at its most powerful, with fuller water, louder flow, and the broadest, most dramatic waterfall spectacle.

Getting There
From central Sioma, head about two kilometres downstream toward the Zambezi crossing point, where local access routes lead toward the best viewpoints of Ngonye Falls. If you are coming from Mongu, the usual approach is by road to Sioma first, then onward to the falls for the final stretch.
