Royal Chundu

About Royal Chundu

Royal Chundu gives you a stay near Victoria Falls that feels quieter, more private, and more polished than the usual base in this part of Zambia. Spread along a private stretch of the Zambezi River, it works especially well if you want easy access to the falls while still staying somewhere that feels calm and removed from the busier tourist areas. The river setting adds a lot to the experience, and with both River Lodge and Island Lodge, it feels like more than just a place to sleep between activities.

When to visit

June to October is the strongest overall window for dry weather, clear skies, and effortless river-based stays near Victoria Falls.

Most popular: June - August

Spring · Sep, Oct, Nov

Spring, from Sep. to Nov., is hot, sun-drenched, and increasingly dramatic along the Zambezi, with low water bringing a strong sense of openness and adventure around the river and falls region. September and October are especially rewarding for classic dry-season atmosphere, while November begins the shift toward greener landscapes and more humidity.

Summer · Dec, Jan, Feb

Summer, from Dec. to Feb., is the wet season, bringing heat, richer greenery, fuller river scenery, and a more tropical mood around the lodge. It is beautiful and atmospheric, but rainfall is heavier and some seasonal activities in the wider Zambezi and Victoria Falls area are more weather-dependent.

Autumn · Mar, Apr, May

Autumn, from Mar. to May., is a transitional season when the rains begin to ease and the landscape stays lush, vivid, and photogenic. River scenery feels especially full and green, and by late autumn conditions become increasingly comfortable for travellers seeking a softer, quieter stay before the drier high season.

Winter · Jun, Jul, Aug

Winter, from Jun. to Aug., is one of the best times to experience Royal Chundu, with cooler mornings, almost no rain, and polished conditions for cruises, canoeing, sightseeing, and riverfront relaxation. The weather is easier, the skies are clearer, and the whole experience feels especially effortless and refined.
