Usambara Mountains
About Usambara Mountains
The Usambara Mountains feel different from the safari side of Tanzania, which is exactly why they stand out. The area is known for cooler air, forested slopes, village trails, and wide views that make it feel greener and more relaxed than many of the country’s better-known destinations. It works especially well if you want a trip that feels more scenic, active, and tied to local landscapes and communities.
When to visit
June to October is the clearest and driest overall period, while January to March is also attractive before the long rains intensify.
Most popular: June - October
