Lake Natron
About Lake Natron
Lake Natron feels very different from the usual Tanzania stop. The lake’s red and pink tones, the Rift Valley setting, and the backdrop of Ol Doinyo Lengai make the whole area feel stark, remote, and memorable in a way that is hard to confuse with anywhere else. It also works well if you want something more unusual than a standard safari add-on, especially because the landscape itself is such a big part of why people go.
When to visit
June to October is the best overall period for drier weather, stronger access conditions, and the lake’s most dramatic salt-and-color contrasts.
Most popular: June - October
