Trondheim, the country’s former capital during the Viking Age, is a picturesque town steeped in history, while Stavanger in Norway’s south west is known for its sandy beaches, a popular summer holiday destination for many Norwegians.

The Lofoten Islands in Norway’s north are comprised of dozens of tiny fishing villages nestled amongst the Fjords, and are considered one of the best places to visit in Norway.

Jotunheimen National Park is home to Norway’s most impressive mountain ranges and boasts it’s 29 highest peaks. Norway’s largest waterfall at 275m high, Vettisfossen, is also located in the national park.

In the remote far north of the country between mainland Norway and the North Pole lies Svalbard, a rugged archipelago home to an array of wildlife including polar bears, reindeer, arctic foxes, whales and walruses. Svalbard is recognised as the northernmost permanently inhabited settlement in the world, with a population of approximately 3,000.

In parts of the country to the north, tourists flock to witness the spectacular Northern Lights during winter, whilst in summer, the presence of the “midnight sun” produces non-stop sunlight, 24 hours per day.
