The Q Train

About The Q Train

The Q Train is a moving restaurant experience that runs along the historic Bellarine Railway between Drysdale and Queenscliff. It’s not just a meal—it’s a multi-course journey through some of the Bellarine Peninsula’s best produce, wine, and coastal scenery. You’ll dine inside restored heritage carriages as the train rolls through farmland and bushland, with each course timed to match the views outside. It’s polished but not pretentious, and whether you’re celebrating something or just want to try something different, it delivers on both food and atmosphere.

When to visit

Late summer into early autumn is the best time to visit. The weather is warm, the skies are clear, and the overall experience is comfortable without the height of summer crowds.

Most popular: February - March

Spring · Sep, Oct, Nov

Spring on The Q Train feels fresh and colorful. The views outside the carriage shift to bright green fields and blossoming landscapes, while the menu leans into lighter, seasonal ingredients. With mild temperatures and longer days, it’s a great time for relaxed lunches or early evening dinners that take full advantage of the scenery.

Summer · Dec, Jan, Feb

Summer is the most vibrant season. Sunlight pours through the large carriage windows as you cruise past the coast and countryside. The seasonal menu focuses on bright flavors, with local wines that pair well with warm-weather dishes. It’s a festive, social season where the train feels full of energy.

Autumn · Mar, Apr, May

Autumn brings a slower rhythm. The menu shifts toward warmer flavors, the lighting softens, and the landscape outside turns golden. It’s a cozy and thoughtful experience, ideal if you prefer quiet surroundings and a more relaxed crowd. Many guests consider autumn the best time for balance—comfort food and clear skies.

Winter · Jun, Jul, Aug

Winter on The Q Train is calm, warm, and personal. The carriages stay cozy with heating, and the menu turns to richer dishes made from the region’s winter produce. It’s a season that suits special occasions and couples, with fewer guests and a softer, more intimate atmosphere that feels made for lingering.
