When to visit

The cooler months are perfect for walking the trails and visiting the lookouts without the heat or humidity.

Most popular: May - August

Spring · Sep, Oct, Nov

Spring is a great season for walking the tracks as temperatures are warm but comfortable. Wildflowers and native plants begin to bloom and the views are often clear and bright. Wildlife such as wallabies and a variety of bird species are easier to spot along the tracks. The Nurim Boardwalk and summit trails are especially enjoyable in the mild weather.

Summer · Dec, Jan, Feb

Summer brings heat and humidity, with occasional afternoon storms. Early mornings are the best time to visit. The park feels alive with vibrant greenery and the sounds of native birds. Shaded walking tracks provide some relief from the heat. Be sure to carry water and wear a hat if exploring during summer.

Autumn · Mar, Apr, May

Autumn is ideal for hiking and photography. The weather becomes cooler, and the skies are usually clear, making the views from the lookouts especially impressive. It’s a calm, quiet time to enjoy the park without large groups.

Winter · Jun, Jul, Aug

Winter brings dry, cool mornings and warm afternoons, perfect for long walks and enjoying the lookouts without worrying about heat. It’s the most comfortable season for exploring the park’s trails and picnic areas. The clear air makes the views over the city and surrounding ranges even more dramatic.
