Fort Worth brings together the spirit of the American West with a vibrant modern city, offering travellers a distinctive mix of cowboy culture, world-class museums, great food, live music and entertainment. Proud of its Texas heritage, the city has held onto the traditions that shaped it while developing into one of the state’s most exciting destinations.
The Fort Worth Stockyards is at the heart of the city’s Western identity. Once a major livestock trading centre, the historic district is now home to restaurants, bars, shops, live music venues and rodeo experiences. Visitors can watch the famous Fort Worth Herd cattle drive, see Texas Longhorns make their way through the Stockyards and experience a part of Texas history that remains very much alive today.
Beyond its Western heritage, Fort Worth has an impressive arts and cultural scene. The city’s Cultural District brings together several renowned museums, including the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. Nearby, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden provides a peaceful escape with gardens and landscapes spread across more than 100 acres.
Food and nightlife offer another way to experience the city. Texas barbecue and steakhouses sit alongside Tex-Mex, contemporary restaurants and international flavours, while rooftop bars, breweries, honky-tonks and live music venues keep the city going after dark.
Fort Worth is also a city that loves sport and the outdoors. Rodeo remains an important part of local culture, particularly during the annual Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, while nearby sporting events, parks, trails and the Trinity River provide plenty of ways to experience a different side of the city.
Whether you come for the Stockyards and cowboy culture, world-class art, Texas barbecue, live music or simply to experience a different side of North Texas, Fort Worth combines its Western roots with the energy of a modern city.
