Pecan Lodge

About Pecan Lodge

Pecan Lodge is one of the names most closely associated with Dallas barbecue, drawing locals and visitors to its Deep Ellum location for slow-smoked brisket, ribs and house-made sausage. What started as a small stand at the Dallas Farmers Market grew into a city favorite without losing its family-run feel. The setting is casual, the portions are generous, and the barbecue is the main reason people keep coming back, especially during busy lunch and weekend hours.

When to visit

Spring is a good time to visit Pecan Lodge because milder weather makes Deep Ellum easier to explore, especially before or after a barbecue lunch.

Most popular: March - May

Spring · Mar, Apr, May

Dallas warms quickly through spring, bringing mild mornings and warmer afternoons before the heavier summer heat arrives. Rain and thunderstorms become more frequent, so keeping indoor plans nearby can be useful when storms pass through. Pecan Lodge opens for lunch every day, and its Deep Ellum location makes it easy to spend time around the neighborhood before or after eating. Lines can form during busy periods, so arriving close to opening can make the visit easier.

Summer · Jun, Jul, Aug

Summer in Dallas is intensely hot, with afternoon temperatures regularly reaching the mid-30s Celsius and many days climbing higher. Pecan Lodge’s indoor dining room provides a break from the heat, while its longer evening hours on most days give you more flexibility than lunch-only barbecue spots. Deep Ellum is generally easier to explore earlier in the day or after sunset. Popular smoked meats can sell out, so earlier visits remain useful even when the restaurant stays open later.

Autumn · Sep, Oct, Nov

Early autumn can still feel hot in Dallas, but temperatures gradually ease as the season progresses. The cooler afternoons later in the season make Deep Ellum easier to explore on foot, and Pecan Lodge fits naturally into a day around the neighborhood. Rainfall can increase at times, particularly when stronger weather systems move through North Texas. The restaurant continues serving brisket, ribs, sausage and other smoked meats daily, with later closing times on weekends.

Winter · Dec, Jan, Feb

Dallas winters are usually mild, although strong cold fronts can bring freezing mornings, ice and occasional snowfall. Most days still allow normal travel around Deep Ellum, and barbecue works especially well when temperatures drop. Pecan Lodge stays open throughout the week, though holiday hours can vary. Brisket, ribs, handmade sausage, mac and cheese and collard greens make up a substantial meal, while indoor seating keeps the visit straightforward when colder or wetter weather moves through the city.
