About African American Museum

The African American Museum at Fair Park is one of Dallas’s most important places for learning about African American history, art and culture. Founded in 1974, it holds more than 60 archival collections, over 200 African artifacts and more than 150 paintings and sculptures. Exhibitions cover everything from fine art and photography to major historical figures and events, giving visitors plenty of context without making the experience feel overwhelming.

From Downtown Dallas, head southeast toward Fair Park via Commerce Street and Exposition Avenue, then enter Fair Park through Gate 5; the museum is at 3536 Grand Avenue.
