Burma Railway

About Burma Railway

The Burma Railway, also known as the Death Railway, was built by Allied prisoners of war during WW2 under orders from their Japanese captors. The 415km railway extended from Thailand to Burma (now Myanmar) to support the Japanese war effort. Thousands of Allied prisoners were killed during the railways construction, due to the unimaginable conditions under which they were forced to work.
