Spring in Mana Pools, from Sep. to Nov., is hot, dramatic, and increasingly intense. Early spring stays very dry, with thinning water sources and superb wildlife concentration, while October and November can become extremely hot before the first storms arrive. It is one of the most exciting times for sightings, but also one of the hottest and busiest periods.

Summer, from Dec. to Feb., is the green season: lush, stormy, humid, and far quieter. Afternoon showers and heavier rainfall transform the landscape, bringing rich colour, dramatic skies, and a softer, more secluded safari mood. Wildlife viewing can be less concentrated than in the dry months, but the scenery feels vivid and alive.

Autumn, from Mar. to May., is a transitional season with receding rains, greener scenery, and steadily improving safari conditions. March can still feel wet, but by April and May the air is drier, temperatures are more comfortable, and access becomes easier. It is an appealing shoulder season for travellers wanting gentler weather before peak demand builds.

Winter · Jun, Jul, Aug

Winter, from Jun. to Aug., is dry, calm, and classically safari-perfect. Mornings are cooler, days are pleasantly warm, and the floodplain becomes increasingly attractive for game viewing as surface water disappears elsewhere. This is one of the most comfortable and rewarding times to stay at Nyamatusi Camp.

Getting There

Nyamatusi Camp is located in Mana Pools National Park in northern Zimbabwe, and is usually reached by flight to Mana Main Airstrip from Harare or Victoria Falls, followed by a game-drive transfer to camp.
