Busanga Plains
About Busanga Plains
Busanga Plains gives you a safari setting that feels wide open, remote, and very different from the usual park circuit. Found in the northern part of Kafue National Park, it is best known for seasonal floodplains, strong game viewing, and the kind of scenery that makes the whole experience feel bigger. If you want somewhere that feels quieter, more exclusive, and shaped as much by the landscape as the wildlife, this is a strong choice.
When to visit
Jul. to Oct. is the prime window for Busanga Plains, when floodwaters recede, camps are open, and wildlife viewing becomes dramatically stronger.
Most popular: August - October

Getting There
From Lusaka, the easiest route is usually by light charter flight to Busanga Airstrip during the dry season. You can also reach Busanga Plains by road through Kafue National Park, though the drive is long and the northern tracks are generally only manageable in the drier months.
