Pico do Fogo, Fogo
About Pico do Fogo, Fogo
Pico do Fogo stands out for the landscape more than anything else. As the highest point in Cabo Verde, it brings together volcanic slopes, ash-covered trails, and the kind of setting that feels very different from the coast. It works especially well if you want something active and more distinctive, especially since the climb is tied so closely to the island’s identity and the wider landscape of Chã das Caldeiras.
When to visit
November to June is the strongest period for summit hiking, with drier conditions and better trail reliability than the warmer, wetter late-summer period.
Most popular: December - March
