Brava Island, Brava

About Brava Island, Brava

Brava Island feels quieter and more local than many of Cabo Verde’s better-known stops, which is part of what makes it stand out. Known for its green hills, mountain views, flower-filled villages, and slower pace, it suits a trip that leans more scenic than resort-driven. It also feels a little more tucked away, so the experience is less about big attractions and more about the island itself.

When to visit

The dry season is the best time to visit, with sunnier days, lower rainfall, and comfortable conditions for coastal viewpoints, village wandering, and scenic island drives.

Spring · Sep, Oct, Nov

Spring is warm, bright, and largely dry across Brava, making it one of the most comfortable times to enjoy the island’s mountain villages and coastal scenery. The landscape still feels attractive and the conditions are reliable for exploring without the wetter late-summer humidity.

Summer · Dec, Jan, Feb

Summer grows warmer and more humid, especially toward August, when the rainy season begins to build. It can still be rewarding, but the weather becomes less predictable and the island feels greener and softer than during the clearer dry-season months.

Autumn · Mar, Apr, May

Autumn is Brava’s wettest season, with the most noticeable rain arriving around August to October. The island can look especially lush and vibrant at this time, but showers and higher humidity make conditions less dependable for classic sightseeing.

Winter · Jun, Jul, Aug

Winter is dry, breezy, and pleasantly mild, making it an excellent season for Brava. The island feels calm, scenic, and highly comfortable for slow travel, with low rainfall and a clearer sense of the dramatic mountain-and-ocean setting.
