About Fort of Ponta da Bandeira
The small Fort of Ponta da Bandeira dates back to the 17th Century. Uniquely positioned along the waters edge in Lagos, the fort played an integral role in the defence of the strategic harbour, constantly under threat of raids by pirates. The fort was restored in the 1960's and today is open to the public for a small entrance fee.
