If you're looking for a modern beachfront hotel in Waikiki with an unbeatable location, lively atmosphere, rooftop pool, ocean views, and easy walking access to everything in Honolulu, Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach absolutely delivers.
We stayed at Alohilani during a July trip to Oahu, Hawaii, and honestly, it ended up being one of those hotels that just made everything easy. Beach across the road, restaurants everywhere, sunsets every night, warm Hawaiian air 24/7… it’s exactly the kind of stay you picture when you think about Waikiki.
First Impressions Of Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach
The first thing we noticed about Alohilani was the vibe.
It feels modern, energetic, social, and very “Waikiki” without trying too hard. Some beachfront hotels in Hawaii can feel dated or overly touristy, but Alohilani strikes a really nice balance between luxury resort and laid-back island atmosphere.
The lobby is stunning too, especially the massive two-storey oceanarium aquarium that instantly becomes the centerpiece of the hotel. It sounds gimmicky on paper, but in person it genuinely works.
From the moment we checked in, the place just felt alive.
Diamond Head Ocean View Room Review
We stayed in a Diamond Head Ocean View room, and we’d absolutely recommend paying extra for it if it’s within budget.
Waking up every morning to views stretching down Waikiki Beach toward Diamond Head was unreal, especially with the July weather putting on a show almost every single day.
The room itself felt clean, modern, and fresh without losing that tropical Hawaii feel. The bed was super comfortable, the balcony views were incredible, and yes… the heated toilet seats somehow became one of the unexpected highlights of the stay. Once you experience it, it’s hard going back.
Small detail, but elite hotel feature.
Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach Pool Review
One thing Alohilani absolutely nails is the rooftop pool area.
Some hotel pools look amazing in photos but feel dead in real life. This wasn’t that.
The pool deck atmosphere was lively pretty much every afternoon we were there. Music playing, cocktails flowing, people relaxing in cabanas, groups having drinks before dinner… it had energy without becoming chaotic.
The infinity-edge pool overlooking Waikiki is gorgeous too, especially around sunset.
If you’re after a super silent, wellness-retreat type vibe, this probably isn’t that kind of resort. But if you want a fun, social Hawaii atmosphere while still feeling upscale, Alohilani gets it right.
Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach Gym & Fitness Facilities
This was one of the biggest surprises of the trip.
Most hotel gyms are somewhere between “acceptable” and completely useless. Alohilani’s indoor gym was actually very solid.
Good equipment, enough space, modern machines, and genuinely usable for proper training sessions.
But the real hidden gem was the second outdoor rooftop gym.
We ended up training there most mornings before the heat kicked in, and honestly, it became one of our favourite parts of the routine. Training outdoors in warm Hawaiian air with palm trees around you just hits differently compared to a normal gym session back home.
If fitness matters to you while travelling, this hotel does a much better job than most.
Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach Location
Location-wise, Alohilani is pretty much exactly where you want to be in Waikiki.
You’re directly across from Waikiki Beach, right near the famous Duke Kahanamoku statue, and within walking distance to basically everything.
No Ubers needed.
No complicated planning.
No “let’s just stay in tonight because it’s too far.”
Everything is there.
Morning walks along the beachfront.
Sunset swims.
ABC stores every 20 metres.
Restaurants everywhere.
Late night dessert runs.
Beach bars.
Shopping.
Surfboard rentals.
Waikiki is one of those destinations where location genuinely changes your trip, and Alohilani absolutely delivers on that front.
Best Restaurants Near Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach
One of the best parts about staying here was how easy it was to bounce between great food spots every day.
Teddy’s Bigger Burgers Waikiki
This place was honestly ridiculous.
Hard 10/10.
We’re not exaggerating when we say Teddy’s Bigger Burgers served some of the best thickshakes we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. The burgers themselves were elite too. Proper old-school American burger joint energy done perfectly.
We went once… then immediately started planning when we could go back again.
Steak Shack Waikiki
Steak Shack became our almost-daily lunch spot.
Simple food done unbelievably well.
Perfectly cooked steak plates right on the beachfront, ridiculously good value by Waikiki standards, and somehow every meal tasted even better after a morning swim or beach walk.
One of those places where you sit there halfway through eating thinking, “Why is this THIS good?”
Cheeseburger in Paradise Waikiki
Classic Waikiki institution.
Big portions, fun atmosphere, beachfront views, and exactly the kind of casual Hawaii dinner spot you want after a long beach day.
Touristy? Sure.
Still worth it? Absolutely.
Hard Rock Cafe Waikiki
Reliable, fun, good energy, and honestly a great late-night option when Waikiki is still buzzing.
The location is excellent too.
The Cheesecake Factory Waikiki
Yes, it’s chaotic.
Yes, there’s usually a wait.
Yes, the menu is basically a novel.
Still worth doing at least once while you’re in Waikiki.
The portions are absurd, the cheesecakes are incredible, and the atmosphere somehow perfectly suits Waikiki.
Honolulu Cookie Company
These stores are everywhere throughout Waikiki and you absolutely need to walk in and try them.
Dangerously addictive.
They also make perfect gifts to bring home… assuming you don’t eat them all yourself first.
