The Hauta Highlands is located on San Cristobal Island. Remote, rugged and teaming with uniquely evolved flora and fauna, the Hauta Highlands Conservation Area is famous for its unique and colourful bird species. There are more than seventy birds endemic to the Solomon Islands. It’s quite a trek, so few bird-watching tours regularly go there, although there are several worthwhile tours to other locations in the Solomon Islands.
