The Bellarine Railway is a heritage train line that runs between Queenscliff and Drysdale, brought back to life by passionate volunteers. You don’t need to be into locomotives to enjoy it—just hop on board and soak in the slow ride past paddocks, bushland, and glimpses of the bay. It’s nostalgic without being kitschy, and whether you’re going for a themed ride or a regular weekend trip, it’s a low-key, scenic way to spend part of your day.
When to visit
Late summer into early autumn is the best time to visit. The weather is warm, the skies are clear, and the crowds aren’t too heavy.

From Geelong CBD, it’s a 30-minute drive to Queenscliff Station via the Bellarine Highway. From Melbourne, drive about 90 minutes or take the Port Phillip Ferry to Portarlington and grab a short taxi ride from there.
