Watson Lake

About Watson Lake

Watson Lake was formed in the early 1900s when a dam was built on Granite Creek creating two reservoirs. The City of Prescott bought Watson Lake and additional land in 1997 to preserve it as a recreational area. Surrounded by exposed bedrock and large granite boulders that have eroded into large smooth rocks or "dells," Watson Lake offers kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing and boating. Picnic areas and a campground are available as well. The imposing rocks may make you feel like you're on another planet, but Prescott is only 15 minutes away.
