Established in 1877, Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church was only the second colored Baptist Church in the United States, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as a pastor. Currently, the church is waiting for further recognition on the UNESCO “Tentative List of World Heritage Sites”.
