About Sea of Galillee

The Sea of Galilee is a freshwater lake in eastern Israel. At a level of 200m below sea level, the lake is the second-lowest lake in the world. The Sea of Galilee has strong biblical ties to the New Testament, and today, is a popular attraction for Christian pilgrims who travel to the area to witness the sites where Jesus is said to have performed numerous miracles that include walking on water, calming the storm and feeding the masses.

Getting There

From Tel Aviv, take Highway 2 north to Haifa, then switch to Highway 77 east towards Tiberias. The drive takes about two hours and offers scenic views of the Israeli countryside before reaching the Sea of Galilee.
