Ruacana Falls
About Ruacana Falls
Ruacana Falls is a great place to visit if you want to see a powerful natural attraction without the crowds or heavy development. Located on the Kunene River at the Angola-Namibia border, it stands out for its wide drop, rocky surroundings, and strong flow during wetter periods. What makes it memorable is how raw and unpolished it feels. You’re not going there for resorts or tourist traps. You’re going for the scenery, the scale, and the atmosphere.
When to visit
Visit from Jan. to Apr. for the strongest waterfall flow, or Jun. to Aug. for drier weather and easier sightseeing around Ruacana.

Getting There
From Ondangwa Airport in northern Namibia, it’s about a 2-hour drive to Ruacana via the main road through Outapi and Ruacana town. The falls sit on the Angola-Namibia border, so most straightforward access is from the Namibian side near the border post.
