About Miradouro da Lua
Miradouro da Lua is a great stop if you want something close to Luanda that still feels visually striking and different. About 40 km south of the city, it’s known for cliffs shaped by years of wind and rain erosion, giving the area its distinct layered, carved look. It’s easy to appreciate even on a short visit because the landscape does most of the work. You go for the views, the unusual terrain, and the contrast with the city nearby.
When to visit
The cooler dry season is the best time to visit, with lower rainfall, clearer skies, and more comfortable conditions for this exposed coastal viewpoint.

From Luanda’s city center, drive south on the EN-100 for about 40 km to Miradouro da Lua. It’s an easy road trip from the capital, and the viewpoint sits just off the main highway on the way toward Barra do Kwanza.
