Cape Caotinha

About Cape Caotinha

Praia da Caotinha is a good choice if you want a coastal stop that feels quieter and less built up than the usual beach destination. Near Benguela, it stands out for its clean stretch of sand, rocky coastline, and the kind of setting that works well for a slower day by the water. It feels simple in a good way, which makes it easy to enjoy if you want scenery, fresh air, and a more laid-back break from the city.

When to visit

Dec. to Apr. is the best stretch for warm beach weather, while Jun. to Aug. is cooler, drier, and less ideal for classic sun-and-swim days.

Most popular: January - April

Spring · Sep, Oct, Nov

Spring, from Sep. to Nov., brings a gradual warm-up along the Benguela coast, with September still relatively cool before October and November turn sunnier, warmer, and more inviting for beach time. It is a visually rewarding season, especially for coastal walks and photography, with less rainfall than the wetter early-year months.

Summer · Dec, Jan, Feb

Summer, from Dec. to Feb., is one of the strongest times to experience Caotinha, with warm air, warmer sea temperatures, and plenty of beach appeal. This is the season for the most classic coastal atmosphere, with sunshine, swimmable water, and a more vibrant warm-weather feel despite some rain.

Autumn · Mar, Apr, May

Autumn, from Mar. to May., remains highly appealing, especially in March and April when sea temperatures stay warm and the scenery is still lush. By May, rainfall drops sharply and conditions become calmer, making it a strong shoulder season for a quieter but still beautiful visit.

Winter · Jun, Jul, Aug

Winter, from Jun. to Aug., is dry and cooler on this stretch of coast, with much lower rainfall but noticeably lower air and sea temperatures. It is better for scenery, walks, and photography than for a classic hot beach escape, though the cliffs and water still look spectacular.
